Mojo Cafe, Ho Chi MinhBún bò Huế – 190,000 VND

Bún bò Huế is a popular Vietnamese soup originating from Hue City in Vietnam containing rice vermicelli and beef. Unlike its popular cousin Pho, this noodle is relative unknown to foreigners. The broth is cooked with beef shanks & beef bones together with herbs like lemongrass and also adding in fermented shrimp paste.

The first sip greatly reminds me of Penang Laksa but with distinctive beef aroma in the broth instead of fish used in Penang Laksa dish. Bun bo Hue has a balance flavours of sweetness, saltiness & sourness with a light hint of spiciness, adding lime juice greatly enhance its flavours making it a great appetizing dish.

Mojo Cafe, Ho Chi MinhThe Mojo club Sandwich – 220,000 VND

The Mojo Club Sandwich is packed with tender chicken, crispy bacon, fried egg and crunchy salad with mayonnaise sandwiched in a Toasted bloomer bread and served with French fries and a mojo salad.

Mojo Cafe, Ho Chi MinhCơm tấm – 150,000 VND

Com Tam is another relative unknown Vietnamese dish made with fractured rice grain usually served with grilled pork. The rice is shorter giving a distinctive texture similar to Northern Africa’s couscous. Our com tam is accompanied by chargrilled tender pork chop, pan fried egg, sweet and sour pickled vegetables and fish sauce.

We find Mojo Cafe a good base to explore more authentic Vietnamese food in a hygenic environment especially if you are concern with streed food hygene. Also, since their waitress speaks English, we get to understand in further details of our food ordered instead of just ordering another bowl of Pho.
