Travelodge Kowloon Hong Kong

Upon returning from Macau, we decided to make another spontaneous food trip to Hong Kong as flight ticket price was reasonable. For this Hong Kong trip we decided to stay at Travelodge Kowloon which is also the first Travelodge hotel in Asia.

Travelodge Kowloon is a newly refurbished mid scale 3 star hotel strategically located in Jordan, one of the most preferred location for travelers as it offers easy access throughout Hong Kong. From Jordan Station (B1 exit) it is less than 5 mins walk to the hotel with lift access from the MTR station so it wasnt a problem for us with luggage.

The lobby is minimalist in design and check in was fairly straightforward. The 126-room hotel offers 2 room categories: Deluxe & Premier Room. Courtesy of the hotel, we were given a free upgrade to Premier room which is more spacious and with complimentary late check out at 2pm.

Hotel Lobby

Our 21sq m Premier Room is quite comfortable in terms of space as hotel rooms in Hong Kong tends to be quite compact. The room also features a generous sized working desk that allows me to work when needed. Free wifi is also available albeit hoping the speed can be faster.

If you are a foodie, Travelodge Kowloon is an ideal base as there are many famous eateries nearby.

One of the most famous eateries in Hong Kong is definitely Australian Dairy which is famous for its fluffy creamy scramble egg and steam custard milk. There is always a line outside the shop however the waiting time is quite short. The staffs are notorious for being rude and they expect customer to order, eat and leave as fast as possible. Yet the allure of their scrambled egg kept us coming back every time when in Hong Kong.

Just right beside Australian Dairy is Mak Man Kee, famous for their Prawn Wanton (全虾云吞). I find Mak Man Kee’s wanton to be even better than the more famous Mak’s Noodles.

Temple Street and Ladies Street is just a short walk across the road. Remember to try the braised snack from 肥姐小食店. Just pick what you like, but do try the octopus and pork offal which is what they are famous for.

Braised Skewer with mustard and sweet sauce

Another hidden gem is definitely the hotel’s very own Oak Tree Italian Restaurant. Their 50% off fresh oysters from US, Australia, France poster caught our attention. Not only that, if you order a dozen of oysters, you will get a complimentary bottle of wine! Price wise it is very reasonable from HKD16-38 for each oyster.

Fine de Claire, France

Unlike the usual buffet breakfast, breakfast in Travelodge Kowloon is ala carte where you get to choose from their breakfast menu. Though it is one order per voucher, coffee and tea is refillable.
