Tommy Ooi’s Traveling Tips

1. A metro ride of less than 2 stops is probably best avoided since walking will take about the same amount of time, save money and you’ll be able to see more of the city.

2. For the subway, a single ticket costs €1.70. However, it is advisable to purchase a set of 10 tickets, which can be bought for €13.70 at any station, bringing down the price to only €1.37.

For More Info : Carnets de Billets

3. If you planning to visit many places in 1 day, opt for Mobilis Day Pass instead for only €6.60 ( Zone 1 – 2 ).

For More Info : Mobilis Coupon

4. Another cheap ( or almost free way ) to get around Paris is to rent a bicycle. In 2007, Paris city council introduced a bike renting program call Velib.

Subscribe 1 day (€1.70 )or 7 days (€8) service. The first 30 mins are free, every following 30 min costs €1 extra. So the game is to get to another station in 25 min and get another bicycle.

Take Bus 350 or 351 to the city and it costs around €5.70 making it the cheapest option to go to Paris.

Bus 350 goes to Gare de l’Est in northeastern Paris while Bus 351 goes to the Nation metro station in the southeast.

The tickets can be purchased inside the bus from the driver and they need to be punched with a device lying next to the driver’s seat.

Paris is well connected to the rest of Europe by train. There is no central station serving Paris, the 6 different stations are not connected to each other. Hence it is wise to know which Train Station you are arriving for better planning.
