How we flew Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class Paris to KL RM15,000 flight for only RM480 per pax

We took Etihad Airways business class on our first journey to Europe and decided to give Singapore Airlines A380 business class a try for our Paris to Kuala Lumpur route.

It has been years since we last flew with Singapore Airlines hence when we noticed there was availability, immediately we redeemed the flight with our Krisflyer miles which we earned from our credit card points.

While others yearned for cash back or redeemed their credit card points for house electronics, we solely rack up points to redeem air tickets. To know which credit card to apply, you can read our Top 10 Travel Credit Cards to Apply for Malaysians in 2018.

We actually made a mistake, we should have redeemed First Class Suite instead of Business Class. Oh well, next time then.

Why?

A one way Singapore Airlines business class flight from Paris to Kuala Lumpur would cost around RM15,000 per person. Unfortunately we are yet ready to fork out that much for a flight ticket when we are able to redeem with miles and pay only RM480 per pax.

The Experience

Singapore Airlines A380-800 features 12 First Class Suites & 86 Business Class seats. It is one of the most spacious business class seat in the industry at a whopping 34″ width and 55″ pitch. Even the newer Singapore Airlines business class seat is smaller than this.

Wine List

The wine list on Singapore Airlines A380 Paris CDG to SIN was superb with 8 distinguished choices. Forgoing my sleep, I decided to do a wine tasting. The air stewardess was very kind & helpful serving one by one throughout the red-eye flight.

Apart from the fine wines & champagne, the flight serves 10 cocktails selections, 9 spirits selections, 3 types of liqueurs, 2 types of aperitif and 2 types of beer.

How to redeem Singapore Airlines Krisflyer

We earned our Krisflyer miles mainly via credit card points. If you are interested in Free Flights, you should too!

1. Login to your Krisflyer account & search for the flight

2. Flight availability

Instant availability is not easy to get. If your travel date is not flexible, it is advisable to redeem the seats where there is availability. One tip is to call the Singapore Airlines customer service and ask them to search which date has instant availability.

Our ticket was on the waiting list and the booking was finally confirmed 2 weeks before our flight date.

How to increase your chance of getting the redemption? Rule of thumb, if there are more empty seats available, the higher chance of getting the redemption. I will conduct a normal booking of 6 business class to see which date has 6 business class available and use it as based to determine my flight date

3. Waiting List Confirmation

Upon receiving the email, you can proceed to Manage your booking to pay for the taxes to confirm your flight redemption.

Ready to fly!

Conclusion

Previously we flew on Etihad Airways First Class Apartment & Business Class and Malaysia Airlines A380 Paris to Kuala Lumpur & A330 Sydney to KL Business Class.

The services rendered by the air stewardess on Singapore Airlines A380 business class were outstanding. The food quality and choices offered were much superior as well. The only slight downside was the lie-flat bed. Etihad Airways business class lie-flat bed is more comfortable. Surprisingly we were not given any amenity pouch on this flight. Lastly, not serving champagne in champagne flute feels like a bummer.

The A380 business class is definitely a highly recommended flight to experience and we do look forward to how it feels like flying on Singapore Airlines First Suite.

    • Hi Liw, you can always divide to 2 years but points tend to devalue every couple years. Alternatively you can redeem shorter haul flight like Japan, Australia which requires lower points
