Las Vegas Airport Tops New Customer Satisfaction Survey

For people who love to travel, picking the right destination is the most crucial aspect of planning your vacation time. Whether you prefer to visit museums, take walks in nature, or experience the local nightlife scene might determine which place you decide to visit. Yet for those of us who travel very often, we cannot really overlook the fact that traveling really begins from the moment you step outside of your door. Whether you travel to your destination in comfort or arrive frustrated and ready to give a thumbs down to your flight can sometimes make or break the experience. So, the fact that the Las Vegas airport just ranked first in a customer satisfaction survey is reason enough to prefer it when scheduling your next trip to the US.

McCarran Airport in Las Vegas Ranks First Customer Satisfaction Survey

According to research reported on the Las Vegas Review, the McCarran airport (LAS) based in Las Vegas claimed the top spot in a survey that measured satisfaction across travelers in North America airports. McCarran tied with Orlando airport (MCO) in Florida in first place, while the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County International Airport (DTW) came in third and the Denver International Airport (DEN) finished in fourth place. This is a major improvement from 2017, when the Las Vegas airport finished third behind rivals Orlando and Detroit. The survey was conducted by US-based market and information services firm J.D. Power, which specializes in customer satisfaction research and product reviews. For its “2018 North America Airport Satisfaction Study”, the company took feedback from 40,183 travelers who took either a departing or an arriving flight using at least one domestic airport. The scope of the research spanned across the period from September 2017 to September 2018 and evaluated factors such as check-in procedures, restaurants and stores inside the airports, accessibility, and baggage claim.

As the Las Vegas Review reports, McCarran is very keen on improving its services to passengers especially in the areas of food and beverage facilities, as well as security checks. This is why the airport’s administration is spending roughly $30 million to upgrade its Terminal 1 in 2019, while representatives of the airport routinely liaise with stakeholders like airline officials and the Transportation Security Administration. In 2017 McCarran also managed to make the top 10 of busiest US airports during Thanksgiving week by serving 636,132 passengers – Atlanta topped the list with a whopping 1.38 million. Both of the top airports in the survey, attract a similar type of passenger, with many leisure travelers and people who visit to attend conventions. Yet McCarran is slightly busier: according to the Las Vegas Review, in 2017 it saw 48.5 million passengers go through its doors, while Orlando lagged behind with 44.6 million. Yet Orlando enjoys service from 40 airlines and McCarran is one short at 39. The Orlando International Airport is very popular with travelers and offers an extra bit of luxury with a four-star Hyatt Regency Hotel located inside its main terminal, which offers a capacity of 445 rooms.

Glamorous Las Vegas a Top Destination Among Travellers

It is no wonder that McCarran ranked first in the survey – it is undoubtedly aided by the fact that Las Vegas is considered one of the top destinations worldwide. Countless tourists flock all year round to visit the famous Las Vegas Strip and take a photograph outside the iconic pyramid of the Luxor Hotel. It is hardly a surprise that Las Vegas is ranked as the ultimate casino destination by Betway, which points out that Las Vegas is often used as the setting of casino-related movie scenes such as in 2001’s Warner Bros blockbuster Ocean’s Eleven and in Rain Man. People from all over the world dream of going to Vegas and having a taste of the glitz and glamour of some of the most sophisticated and fabulous casinos across the globe. Las Vegas is rightly called the Sin City, as it thrives through its vibrant nightlife – which encompasses everything from gambling venues to stellar restaurants and entertainment. Here you can see top pop stars like Britney Spears or rock idols like ZZ Top deliver performances every night, catch an iconic musical like Chicago, or just spend a night entertained by one of the many Elvis impersonators that the city is famous for.

Every American has got a travel tip to share about visiting Vegas – and it usually revolves around the Strip, which is the affectionate nickname of the most popular part of the Las Vegas Boulevard. Running through Sin City from northeast down to southwest, the Las Vegas Boulevard is filled with huge entertainment venues, which often blend top luxury hotels with fine dining venues and vibrant casinos. These include the Paris Las Vegas Hotel which stands out thanks to the scale model of the French Eiffel Tower situated at its entrance, the legendary Venetian Hotel with its recreation of the Grand Canal of Venice – complete with gondola rides – and the Bellagio Las Vegas Resort with its renowned fountain show where visitors can see the water dance to music. The Strip is at its best during the night, when all its trademark neon signs shine in full glory, inviting visitors in for an unforgettable night of fun.

People come to Las Vegas to experience what a night of true glamour and entertainment is all about. The fact that they mainly arrive to an airport that’s now been chosen as travelers’ favorite in the US is also bound to improve the experience further.
